Little Encaustic Boxes

i have been wanting to make little boxes with encaustic so I finally decided to try it.  I haven't ever seen any before but thought that they would be neat for small special things.  These were my first two.

Bald River Falls, 31" x 36", Encaustic

This summer we have travelled all over from Georgia to Indiana.  One of the places we spent time at were these beautiful falls, Bald River Falls in Tellico Plains, Tennessee.  I have been painting from the memories in my mind of this summer along with photographs of our travels .  I chose the encaustic medium to portray the rushing water of the falls for the depth that you can create with this fabulous medium.

Part of the Southern Colours Show at City Hall in Snellville, GA

The Exhibit will hang from August 28, 2014 through October 31, 2014.  I have encaustic pieces in this show, but it is an all media show by Southern Colours Art Association.

John's Creek Artist Center "Renaissance of Pastels"

I had two paintings accepted into the "Renaissance of Pastels Show" at John's Creek Artist Center with the Southeastern Pastel Society.

Accepted into the Randy Higbee 6X6 Show

I am thrilled that my encaustic painting "High View" was accepted into the Randy Higbee 6X6 Square Show in Costa Mesa, California.  It was the only encaustic in the show!  Acceptance of the encaustic into a show of traditional pastels and oils made me so proud.  This painting was from a trip we made along the coastal Highway 1.  We would stop at the pull offs and the views would be incredible.  Loved seeing all of the wildflowers everywhere.
